This section outlines our administrative policies and procedures in the following areas:
Participants Protection Policy
This policy is for the general protection of all participants at TSA events and activities,
including those who are involved in organising or leading activities.
Inclusion and Diversity Policy
Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Policy (93kb)
With the introduction (in Victoria) of legislation for Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) – choosing to take life-ending medication prescribed by a doctor – in June 2019, it was deemed appropriate for the TSA to make its members aware and to state its position. We believe VAD is a personal choice and that members and friends should be aware of the current legislation and its implications. It is important to understand appropriate end of life care options such as an Advance Care Plan (with TTHA usually requiring its residents to have one), Palliative Care and VAD.
Apart from the usual telephone helplines – Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement (call 1800 642 066) or Lifeline (call 13 11 14) – the TSA Elders, the Community Care Worker and the Sydney Community Support Worker are available to discuss end of life planning with you.
